Floating Hospitality Cabin

Catskill, New York

Located in the Catskills, the floating cabin represents a new approach to hospitality in the Hudson Valley, designed to connect visitors with the region’s scenic waterways, nature preserves, and year-round outdoor recreation. The project serves as the pilot unit for a larger boutique floating retreat focused on sustainable, low-impact waterfront accommodations.

Seadwell served as design lead for the prototype, guiding overall concept development, spatial planning, and integration of the floatation system while balancing architectural intent with constructability and long-term durability on the water.

Project services included:
• Concept development and floating hospitality planning
• Architectural coordination and spatial layout
• Integration of structural and marine engineering systems
• Floating platform and foundation coordination
• Design for efficient fabrication, transport, and deployment
• Low-impact waterfront and environmental planning
• Prototype development for future floating hospitality expansion

Working closely with the project team, Seadwell coordinated architectural, structural, and marine considerations to support efficient off-site construction and deployment with minimal environmental impact. The project serves as a prototype for future floating cabins and small-scale floating hospitality uses.
