Michael J Bruce | Professional Engineer

Michael Bruce, founder of Seadwell, is a licensed Professional Engineer with over 26 years of expertise in waterfront development and design. He began his career as a certified commercial engineer-diver, conducting underwater inspections for the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, commercial ports, and private waterfronts. This hands-on experience provided Michael a deep understanding of waterfront structures and their complex relationship with marine environments.

For the past 12 years, Michael has specialized in the recreational and commercial marina industry, focusing on the planning, permitting, and designing of urban marinas. His passion for floating homes emerged during his eight-year tenure as the Maritime Development Manager at The Wharf in Washington, DC, where he oversaw the reconstruction of the Gangplank Marina, one of the largest liveaboard communities in the eastern United States. Michael’s collaboration with floating home residents ignited his passion for the design and functionality of floating structures, inspiring him to push the limits of innovation in floating home design.
